New Prefecture in Vaucluse

The former Chabran barracks at the foot of the old Avignon city walls were the site of the service restructuring project for the Prefecture in Vaucluse.

Architect Daniel Fanzutti headed the project which, in addition to facing clearly-defined operational, technical and economic constraints, needed to reuse two early twentieth century military buildings.

Plasterworks companies Isolbat, Avias and Solelec jointly answered the invitation to tender and swiftly proceeded to put their pooled know-how into practice. The companies took special care to ensure that the façade doubles enhanced the charm of the old buildings, and that the separating walls made the most of the available natural light.

The offices in the upper stories all receive transverse light, and are separated by a central storage area. In order to show off the enormous storey-height windows retained on the façades, the false ceilings on the stories were finished with original Z-shaped plasterboard, made to measure in PLAtecTM workshops.
